Art That Dares You Into Joy
What gives you great joy?
For me, doing anything creative is way up there.
But you know what really heightens that joy for me? Sharing it. Connecting with people and seeing what moves them.
While my art themes and subjects may vary, they’re all about communicating a life of memories from every age:
…thresholds I was scared to cross,
…paths and bridges that beckoned,
…ocean waves that called me to dive in and go deeper.
Growing up a shy loner, I was used to going deep.
But later I was also challenged to venture out:
- out of shadows,
- out of hiding and safety, and of course,
- out of the box — and into JOY!
It continues to amaze me how joy is not about the absense of suffering but can be right in the middle of it, by daring to face pain.
The way out is indeed through.
And that also includes the creative process: It takes guts to face ourselves on canvas, paper, in print…and then put it out there.
